The Every Village Project: St. Vincent & the Grenadines
In accordance with the word of God we believe that the Lord has called us to evangelize the world. Over the years, we’ve worked in Bible camps, taken mission trips both foreign and U.S.-based, assisted multiple churches and planted a church on the island of Bequia in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. As with many church plants, our goal has been to establish the church, transition leadership to a local pastor, and then move on to new areas. However, this transition has been slower than anticipated. So, while continuing to pastor in and help the church in Bequia to grow, we have started expanding outreach to the 120 surrounding villages spread across six major islands.
In partnership with Pastors Timothy Mitchell, Wilson Joseph, and several other local pastors in St. Vincent, we have already preached in 12 villages, with a goal not only to preach but also to plant churches wherever God leads. Following a biblical model, we aim to preach the Gospel so that those who hear may believe, baptize new believers after their profession of faith, begin discipleship to help them grow and learn to follow the Lord, and equip them to teach others. Our focus on multiplication means that as we make disciples, they, in turn, will reach others, enabling us to expand the impact of the Gospel. Lastly, we seek to fulfill the Great Commission by helpings our new believers understand their purpose and find fulfillment beyond simply attending services but in fillings the great commission.
This biblical pattern is evident in Acts 16-17, where Paul established churches that quickly took root. Later, in Philippians and 1 Thessalonians, these churches were spreading the Gospel so that Paul could say, “So that we need not to speak any thing.” We believe God designed the New Testament church for believers, and these believers should have the following:
- A Foundation of Salvation
- A First Step of Baptism
- A Commitment to Discipleship
- A Faithfulness to Teach Others
- A Fulfillment in the Great Commission
As a servant of God, I feel a responsibility to bring the Gospel to all 120 villages in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Preaching the Gospel is just the first step in planting churches. By assembling a team, you can partner with us in preaching, teaching, and discipling as we watch God build His church. We don’t have all the answers, nor do we claim to have it all figured out, but we desire to help you as you help us so that, together, we can reach the world.
How You Can Help:
Plan a Trip
- Team Size: Teams of 5-10 are ideal for managing transportation and lodging.
- Time Frame: Let us know your available dates and length of stay so we can plan the outreach and choose the villages accordingly.
- Travel: St Vincent has a International airport the airport code is (SVD) American airlines has the best deals and most routes, if you would like assistance bookings the flights I would be more then happy to help. I also have an American alines card that I can use to book the flights, and you would just need to reimburse me for the cost of the tickets.
Types of Meetings
- Street Meetings: Set up near a busy junction with lights and speakers to preach each night, moving to a new area as needed. Daytime involves community outreach and inviting people.
- Small Tent Meetings: Set up a 20×20 tent quickly in various communities where locals often gather. These smaller setups are easily relocated.
- Week-Long Tent Meetings: For larger areas or where response is strong, we use a 30×50 tent for one to two weeks, canvassing the area and going house-to-house during the day, saturating the community with the Gospel.
Requirements for Team Members
- Passport- you can’t travel without it.
- Clear Testimony of Salvation: While we’ve had people come and get saved on these trips, it’s important to come with a clear testimony of salvation.
- Willing Heart: Flexibility and a willingness to step into new situations are essential.
- Funds: Every trip has expenses. Team members are responsible for covering their own airfare, food, transportation, and lodging. We are happy to assist in planning and arrangements. We are also praying that our first 5-10 supporters will help cover the cost of renting a house, which would significantly reduce hotel expenses.
- Knowledge of the Scriptures: Because of the nature of the meetings we are having, we desire that you have a basic knowledge of the Scriptures. Plan to share your testimony in a way that presents the Gospel, and be prepared to talk and engage with cults and unbelievers about how to be saved. This includes talking with Seventh-day Adventists, Church of Christ members, Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and others. One of the main things we deal with is faith in baptismal regeneration, so be prepared for this. We are willing to help you with all of these areas.
Two Additional Ways You Can Support:
- Prayer: Please pray for the Every Village Project, that the Lord would prepare hearts and open doors in each village.
- Financial Support: While our desire is for churches to be primarily involved, financial support for the Every Village Project is helpful. 100% of funds go directly to these villages and cover costs like printed materials, fuel, ferry expenses, field rentals, hotel stays, and food. Support can be sent to Macedonia World Baptist Missions, marked for David Ballinger/Every Village Project.
Thank you for your prayers, partnership, and support as we bring the Gospel to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and eventually the world!
